A county district attorney in Georgia has been ordered to pay over $54,000 in legal fees for violating the state’s Open Records Act.The issue arose when the office failed to provide records requested by a defense attorney representing a defendant in a high-profile case. The judge noted the office showed clear resistance to the attorney’s requests. This ruling follows previous scrutiny of the prosecutor’s conduct in the case.A new state law now allows defendants to seek reimbursement for legal fees if a prosecutor is disqualified due to misconduct.
